This year, the movie "Parasite" became the first-ever Korean movie to take home the prize for Best Foreign Film at the Golden Globe Awards. The Golden Globes ceremony is one of the two biggest awards ceremonies in the U.S., along with the Academy Awards. Last year, "Parasite" was honored with the Palme d'Or award at the world-famous Cannes Film Festival.
As Korean movies continue to improve in quality, it's becoming more common for them to be nominated at international awards. In addition to artistic merit, they are also fun to watch. That's why they are opening in theaters around the world. Many movies are doing well at the box office.

Korean people's love of movies is behind the success of domestic films. Koreans are world-class when it comes to visiting theaters. An average adult will visit a theater at least 4 times a year. Many are filled with anticipation that there will continue to be more good Korean movies.

올해, 영화 '기생충'이 한국 영화로는 최초로 골든 글로브 시상식에서 외국어 영화상을 받았다. 골든 글로브 시상식은 아카데미 시상식과 더불어 미국의 양대 영화 시상식 중 하나다. 작년에 '기생충'은 세계적으로 유명한 칸 영화제에서 작품상인 '황금 종려상'을 수상한 바 있다.
