Vikings Who Limit Alcohol.
술을 자제하는 바이킹의 후예들.

<말하기 연습>
This summer, my husband and I went on a trip to Northern Europe, starting with Norway. On a Saturday evening, we went to a grocery store to buy some beer. But the moment it hit 6:05, an employee shut down the liquor section. I was standing right there and still missed out on the beer. It really caught me off guard.
올여름에 나는 남편과 함께 노르웨이를 시작으로 북유럽 여행을 떠났다. 토요일 저녁에 맥주를 사러 마트에 갔는데, 6시 5분이 되자 직원이 곧바로 주류 코너를 닫아 버렸다. 눈앞에서 맥주를 놓쳐서 무척 당황스러웠다.

It turns out that in Norway, alcohol sales are strictly regulated to protect public health and prevent crime. You can only buy alcohol until 8 p.m. on weekdays, and on Saturdays, sales stop at 6. Drinking in the streets or in parks is also banned.
알고 보니 노르웨이에서는 국민 건강과 범죄 예방을 위해 주류 판매 시간을 엄격히 제한하고 있었다. 평일은 저녁 8시, 토요일은 6시까지만 술을 살 수 있다. 그리고 길거리나 공원에서도 음주가 금지되어 있다.

I had always assumed that, as descendants of the Vikings, they would be big drinkers. I was impressed by their self-control. One traveler from Germany, a country famous for beer, even joked, "This is an insult to beer!" It was an amusing case of culture shock during our trip.
바이킹의 후예들이라 술을 엄청 즐길 거라 늘 생각했는데, 의외로 절제하는 모습이 인상적이었다. 맥주의 나라 독일에서 온한 여행객은 이건 맥주에 대한 모독이다!"라고 농담을 하기도 했다. 여행지에서의 재미있는 문화 충격이었다.
