<말하기 연습>
One day, I came across a Sudoku puzzle on the back page of a calendar and decided to give it a try. I thought it would be a walk in the park, but I was surprised to find that I couldn't solve it even after days had passed. Eventually, I called it quits. I thought it wouldn't be that difficult because I had often seen my grade-schooler nephew doing it, but I was sorely mistaken.
어느 날 달력 윗장에 스도쿠가 있는 것을 우연히 보고 한번 시도해 보기로 했다. 쉽게 풀수 있을 거라고 생각했는데, 며칠이 지났는데도 풀 수 없어서 놀랐다. 나는 결국 포기했다. 초등학생인 조카가 하는 것을 자주 봐서 별로 어렵지 않을 거라고 생각했는데 큰 오산이었다.

Feeling angrily determined, I bought a few Sudoku books and began solving them, starting from the beginner level. The beginner levels were quite easy, but I sometimes needed an eraser as I leveled up to intermediate. When I got to the advanced levels, it sometimes took me a whole day to complete a puzzle. Spending a few months this way, I gradually got the hang of things, and now I'm tackling the highest.
약간 오기가 생겨 스도쿠 책을 몇 권 구입해서 초급부터 풀기 시작했다. 초급은 정말 쉬웠지만, 중급으로 올라가니 지우개가 가끔씩 필요했다. 고급에 들어가니 퍼즐을 푸는 데 하루가 꼬박 걸리기도 했다. 그렇게 몇 달을 보내며 차츰 요령을 익히게 되었고 지금은 최고급을 풀고 있다.

Now, Sudoku puzzles have become a part of my daily routine. I get lost in the numbers when I'm solving Sudoku puzzles. It settles my mind and frees me from distractions.
이제 스도쿠는 나의 하루 일과의 일부가 되었다. 스도쿠를 풀고 있으면 숫자에 빠져서 마음이 가라앉고 잡념이 없어진다.
