I currently live in Seoul, and I visited my hometown of Gwangju and my in-laws in Ulsan for the holidays. The total distance traveled was about 1,000 kilometers, so it really was a long-distance trip.
저는 현재 서울에서 살고 있는데, 명절을 맞아 본가인 광주와 처가인 울산을 방문하게 되었습니다. 전체 이동 거리가 1,000km에 달해서, 그야말로 장거리 행군이나 다름없었습니다.

One thing in particular really came in handy during this long drive. I recently purchased a new car that comes with a feature called "Smart Cruise Control." This semiautonomous driving system recongnizes the vehicles ahead and maintains a set distance and speed.
이렇게 장거리 운전을 할 때 특히 유용했던 것이 하나 있습니다. 저는 최근에 신차를 구매했는데 "스마트 크루즈 컨트롤"이라는 보조 기능이 있습니다. 이 반자율 주행 장치는 전방 차량을 인식해서 일정 거리와 속도를 유지해 줍니다.

Especially on highways, where accelerating and decelerating can be tiring and there is a risk of accidents, using this system reduced my fatigue. However, I did have to keep an eye on whether the system was working properly while I drove. I also needed to be prepared to brake at the drop of a dime to avoid collisions with cars that cut me off.
특히 고속도로에서는, 가속과 감속을 반복해서 힘이 들고 사고가 발생할 위험이 있는데, 이 장치를 사용하니 피로감이 덜했습니다. 다만, 주행하는 동안 장치가 잘 작도하고 있는지 관찰해야 했습니다. 또한 갑작스럽게 끼어드는 차량과의 충돌을 피하기 위해 브레이크 페달을 즉시 밟을 수 있도록 대비해야 했습니다.
