<말하기 연습>
My first exposure to English was at work. The branch manager was an American, and since I wasn't cofident in my English skills, I used to pretend to go to the ladies' room when I saw him in the hallway. Sometimes, when I got a call from abroad, I would pass it on to a colleague who was good at English.
내가 처음 영어를 가까이 접하게 된 것은 회사에서였다. 지정장님이 미국 사람이었는데, 나는 영어에 자신이 없어서 그분을 복도에서 마주치면 화장실에 가는 척 피하기도 했다. 그리고 가끔 외국에서 온 전화를 받으면 영어를 잘하는 동료에게 바꿔 주기 일쑤였다.

Then, with support from the company, I started taking English coversation lessons with a native speaker. There were ups and downs, but after studying for over two years, I became more comfortable with English conversations. English itself wasn't the end goal. It was a means of communication. This enabled me to share my thoughts and feelings with the people I studied with.
그러다 회사의 지원으로 원어민 영어 회화 수업을 듣게 되었다. 우여곡절은 많았지만, 그래도 2년 넘게 공부하고 나니 영어회화가 조금은 더 편해졌다. 영어 자체가 목적이 아니라 소통의 수단이 되니, 같이 공부하는 사람들과 마음과 생각을 나눌 수 있게 되었다.

Personally, I developed a greater interest in the English language. I started looking up expressions on my own and became more proactive. Now, when I communicate with foreigner, I feel like I'm swimming more freely in the sea of English.
개인적으로는, 영어라는 언어에 더 큰 관심이 생겼고, 스스로 표현도 찾아보고 더 적극적으로 임하게 되었다. 이제는 외국인들과 소통할 때 더 자유롭게 영어의 바다를 헤엄치는 기분이 든다.
