About two years ago, I came across the concept of "minimalism" in a book that a former coworker lent me. The author lived with only the essentials, repurposing a single piece of furniture for multiple uses. I was deeply impressed by the idea of living in the moment, rather than burdening myself with things I don't need "just in case." So, I've gradually been trying to put it into practice in my own life.
한 2년 전에 예전 직장 동료가 빌려준 책을 읽고 우연히 "미니멀리즘"이라는 개념을 접하게 되었습니다. 저자는 최소한의 물건들만 소유하고, 하나의 가구를 다양한 용도로 변경해 가면서 생활했습니다. 나에게 필요없는 물건들을 "만약"을 대비해 짊어지고 있기보다 현재에 집중하면서 산다는 생각이 인상 깊었습니다. 그래서 저도 생활 속에서 조금씩 실천해 보고 있습니다.

Minimalism isn't just about owning fewer possessions. It's about keeping or discarding things depending on how important they are to you. That way, you can focus on the really important things in life.
미니멀리즘이란 단순히 물건의 개수를 적게 가지는 것이 아니라, 나 자신에게 그것들이 얼마나 가치 있는지에 따라 취하거나 버리는 것을 의미합니다. 그렇게 하면 진정으로 가치 있다고 생각하는 것에 집중하며 살 수 있습니다.

I've only applied this concept to material possessions so far, but it can be widely applied to many aspects of life, including relationsships, career, and finances.
저는 아직 물건에만 이 개념을 적용해 보고 있지만 인간관계, 커리어, 금전 등 삶의 많은 부분에서도 폭넓게 적용 가능합니다.
