In the movies, you often see scenes where genius characters make quick work of a Rubik's Cube. The moment when the colors of the jumbled cube all lined up was truly astonishing. That's why I thought it was a skill only a genius could master.
영화를 보면 천재 캐릭터들이 정육면체 큐브를 빠르게 돌리는 장면을 종종 볼 수 있습니다. 어지럽게 헝클어져 있던 규브의 색이 모두 맞춰지는 장면은 무척이나 놀라웠습니다. 그랫 저는 그것이 천재들만 통달할 수 있는 기술이라고 생각했습니다.

Then one day, I saw a young girl, an elementary school student, solving the cube. It took her less than five minutes. I asked her how she was so good at it, and she smiled and said it's all about memorizing the algorithms. She also mentioned that she practiced consistently while watching instructional videos.
그러던 어느 날, 초등학생인 한 여자 아이가 큐브를 맞추고 있는 모습을 보았습니다. 큐브를 다 맞추는 데 5분이 채 걸리지 않았습니다. 어떻게 그렇게 잘하는지 물어보자, 그 아이는 웃으며 공식을 외우면 된다고 말했습니다. 그리고 교육용 동영상을 보며 꾸준히 연습을 한다고 했습니다.

I went home and found a Rubik's Cube gathering dust in a corner. I started solving it according to the directions given in videos. After replaying the videos dozens of times, I finally solved the cube. It took me a while, but just completing it once gave me a great sense of accomplishment.
저는 집에 가서 구석에 방치된 규브를 찾았습니다. 그리고 영상에서 알려주는 방식대로 맞추기 시작했습니다. 영상을 수십 번 재생한 끝에 마침내 규브를 맞췄습니다. 시간이 오래 걸렸지만, 한 번 완성해 본 것만으로도 매우 뿌듯했습니다.
