Our son, who is 5 years old this year, is crazy about dinosaurs. He can rattle off the names and characteristics of hundreds of dinosaur species listed in encyclopedias. Thanks to him, I have picked up a lot about dinosaurs myself. Sometimes, when I'm talking about dinosaurs with my son, I have whimsical thoughts like, "Could there still be dinosaurs somewhere in this world?"
올해 5살인 우리 아들은 공룡 사랑이 대단합니다. 백과사전에 나오는 수백 종의 공룡의 이름과 특징을 줄줄 외울 정도입니다. 아이 덕분에 저도 자연스럽게 공룡에 대해 많은 것을 알게 되었습니다. 아들과 공룡 이야기를 하고 있으면 가끔은 "이 세상 어딘가 아직 공룡이 있는 게 아닐까?"라는 엉뚱한 생각이 듭니다.

Dinosaurs were giant reptiles that thrived on land, especially during the Mesozoic Era. Flying animals like pterosaurs, and marine animals like ichthyohsurs and plesiosaurs are reptiles, but technically not considered dinosaurs. The most famous dinosaur, Tyrannosaurus Rex, had a body length of about 12 meters and height of 5 meters, and it weighed in at around 8 tons. Around 1,000 dinosaur species have been discovered so far, and research is still ongoing.
공룡은 특히 중상대에 육지에 번성하였던 거대한 파충류입니다. 하늘을 나는 익룡이나 물속에 사는 어룡과 수장룡은 파충류이지만 엄밀히 따지면 공룡이 아닙니다. 가장 유명한 공룡인 티라노사우르스 렉스는 머리에서 꼬리까지 몸길이가 약 12m, 키는 5m, 몸무게는 8통에 달한다고 합니다. 지금까지 1,000여 종의 공룡이 발견되었고 연구가 여전히 진행 중입니다.
