미세 플라스틱에 대해 이야기해 주세요.

Microplastics are plastics with a size ranging from 100 nanometers to less than 5 millimeters. Microplastics can build up in the bodies of organisms, impacting blood circulation, the lymphatic system, various organs, growth, and fertility. When an animal or human dies, their remains decompose and disappear, but the microplastics expelled from their bodies persist endlessly in the ecosystem.
미세 플라스틱은 크기가 100nm(나노미터) 이상, 5mm 미만인 플라스틱이다. 미세 플라스틱은 생물의 체내에 축적되어 혈류, 림프계, 각종 장기, 성장, 불임 등에 영향을 끼친다. 동물이나 인간은 사망하면 분해되어 사라지지만, 체내에서 배출된 미세 플라스틱은 끝없이 생태계를 떠 돈다고 한다.

It is estimated that we consume about 5 grams of microplastics every week. This is equivalent to ingesting a piece of plastic around the size of a credit card once a week.
우리는 이러한 미세 플라스틱을 매주 5g 정도 먹고 있는 것으로 추정된다. 일주일에 한 번 신용 카드 한 장 정도 크기의 미세 플라스틱을 먹고 있는 셈이다.

Regulations addressing the serious damage caused by microplastics have begun in various countries. However, the contamination of soil and oceans due to microplastics is likely to get even worse in the furture. Ultimately, the fundamental solution lies in reducing plastic production that generates microplastics and minimizing plastic waste.
여러 나라에서 미세 플라스틱이 끼치는 심각한 피해에 대응하기 위한 규제가 본격적으로 시작 되었다. 하지만 앞으로 미세 플라스틱으로 인한 토양과 해양의 오염은 더욱 심각해질 가능성이 높다. 결국 미세 플라스틱을 만들어 내는 플라스틱 생산을 줄이고 폐플라스틱을 최소화하는 것이 근본적인 해결책이다.
