Returning from China to Life in Korea. 중국에서 돌아온 후 한국에서의 삶.

Of my 10 years of married life, 6 years were spent in China and 4 years in Korea. At this point, I wanted to take stock of some of the things I have felt.
나의 결혼 생활 10년 중에서 6년은 중국에서 보냈고, 4년은 한국에서 보냈다. 이 시점에서 내가 느낀 점들을 몇 가지 정리해 보고 싶었다.

The internet was very well developed in China, so payment systems were very convenient. For example, when I chose a product at a traditional market and scanned the QR code on the cash register to pay, the product was delivered right to my home. When I came back to Korea, it was a little inconvenient that QR code payments and delivery services weren't available at the marketplace.
중국은 인터넷이 잘되어 있어서 결제 시스템이 매우 편리했다. 예를 들어, 재래시장에서 물건을 고르고 계산대에 있는 큐알 코드를 찍어서 결제하면, 물건이 집으로 바로 배송되었다. 한국에 돌아와서는, 시장에서 큐알 코드 결제와 배송 서비스가 안 되는 점이 좀 불편했다.

In addition, most of the families of workers stationed in China hired cleaning ladies. It was possible because the cost of hiring them was dirt cheap. So when I was fresh off the boat in Korea, I wasn't good at cleaning. One day, I was surprised by the itensity of housework and childcare, which suddenly became 100% my responsibility. As a mother and wife, I had about three times more work on my plate compared to when I was in China.
게다가 중국에서의 주재원 가족은 대부분 청소 아주머니를 고용했다. 일단 청소 아주머니를 고용하는 비용이 매우 어렵했기에 가능했다. 그래서 한국에 막 돌아왔을 때, 나는 청소를 잘하지 못했다. 어느날 갑자기 100퍼센트 나의 일이 된 가사 노동과 육아 강도에 나는 소스라치게 놀랐다. 엄마로서 그리고 아내로서, 처리해야 할 일이 중국에 있을 때에 비해 3배 정도 많았다.

A: 돌아오셔서 적응하는 데 힘들지는 않으셨어요?
B: 많이 힘들었죠. 새로운 직장도 찾아야 했고, 이런저런 시행착오도 많이 겪었어요.
A: 정말 고생 많이 하셨겠어요.
B: 네, 하지만 지금은 제가 잘할 수 있는 일을 찾아 열심히 하고 있어요.
