7 years ago, I read something online about skydiving in Australia. There is a coral reef in Australia called the Great Barrier Reef. It said that jumping down from the sky above the reef and taking in the view of the ocean is an out of this world experience. I decided I had to try it for myself.
7년 전, 인터넷에서 호주의 스카이다이빙에 관한 글을 읽었다. 호주에 "그레이트 베리어 리프"라는 거대한 산호초가 있는데, 그곳의 하늘에서 바다의 경치를 감상하며 뛰어내리는 경험은 환상적이라고 했다. 그래서 나도 직접 해 봐야겠다는 마음을 먹게 되었다.
But when I actually arrived on site, my desire to go skydiving fizzled out. I debated internally for several days whether to go through with it. Finally, I made up my mind to do it. I got on a light plane and we flew up to an altitude of 4300m. The safety attendant led me to the door of the plane. I jumped before I could even psych myself up. I thought my heart would burst. But I felt a mesmerizing thrill during my freefall from the wide blue sky.
하지만 막상 현장에 도착을 하고 보니, 스카이다이빙을 하고 싶다는 생각이 사라졌다. 나는 도전을 할지 말지 며칠 동안이나 고민했는데, 마침내 해 보기로 결심을 했다. 경비행기를 타고 고도 4300미터까지 올라갔다. 안전 요원이 나를 비행기 출입구로 이끌었다. 나는 마음의 준비도 하지 못한 채 뛰어내렸다. 심장이 터질 것 같았다. 하지만 광활한 푸른 하늘을 자유 낙하하며 느낀 스릴감은 정말 황홀했다.
It made me feel that skydiving is an activity worth experiencing at least once in a lifetime.
