Learning to Break-Dance.
힙합 댄스 배우기.
I recently enjoyed a dance competition program on TV called "Street Man Fighter." I was so taken with one break-dancer in particular that I made the decision to learn how to dance myself.
나는 최근에 TV에서 "스트릿 맨 파이터"라는 댄스 경연 프로그램을 즐겨 보았다. 특히 한 힙합 댄서의 춤이 너무 매력적이었기 때문에 나도 춤을 배워 보기로 결심했다.
I was in luck. A dance team that had appeared on "Street Woman Fighter" was teaching classes at a dance studio right in my own neighborhood. I signed up for classes right away.
운이 좋게도 바로 우리 동네에 "스트릿 우먼 파이터"에 출연했던 댄스팀이 수업을 하는 댄스 학원이 있었다. 나는 곧바로 수강 등록을 했다.
On my first day at the dance studio, I felt overwhelmed by the atmosphere. It made me feel very nervous. Other students who are born dancers freely moved their bodies depending on how the music made them feel. But I was frozen in place. I couldn't even lift my hands and feet. In my head, I could understand the dance moves we were taught. But I was flustered when my body had other ideas as we tried to follow along to the choreography. I am worried whether I will be able to keep up with the class, but for now I plan to keep at it.
처음으로 댄스 학원에 간 날, 그곳의 분위기에 압도되어 긴장을 많이 했다. 춤을 잘 추는 다른 수강생들은 음악에 맞춰 느낌대로 자신의 몸을 자유롭게 움직였다. 그런데 나는 꼼짝도 못한 채 손발도 들어 올리지 못했다. 머릿속으로는 배우 안무가 이해가 되는데, 안무를 따라 추려고 할 때는 몸이 생각처럼 잘 따라주지 않아서 당황스러웠다. 앞으로 수업을 잘 따라갈 수 있을지 걱정이 되기도 하지만, 당분간은 계속 다녀 볼 예정이다.
