Convenience stores.
There are places that light up the dark of the city, like lighthouses by the sea. They are convenience stores. In addition to instant cup noodles, sanck foods, and drinks, convenience stores also sell various sundries like office supplies. People of all ages visit convenience stores to buy things they need.
In the past, convenience stores were mostly located in downtown areas with lots of office buildings, or near subway stations. But nowadays, they are also a common sight in residential neighborhoods.
I visit covenience stores because of the delicious eats that are only sold there. There are desserts that pair well with coffee. And there are all sorts of instant noodles, triangle gimbap, and lunch boxes. During the daily grind, a cup of noodles and triangle gimbap eaten at a table in the corner of a convenience store is as delicious as any lavish feast.
바닷가의 등대처럼 도시의 어두운 밤을 밝히는 곳들이 있다. 바로 편의점들이다. 편의점에서는 컵라면과 과자, 음료수뿐만 아니라 사무용품 같은 각종 잡화도 판매한다. 그래서 다양한 연령층의 사람들이 편의점에 들러 필요한 물건을 산다.
예전에는 편의점이 주로 사무실이 많은 도심 지역이나 지하철역 근처에 위치해 있었다. 그러나 요즘은 주택가에서도 흔히 볼 수 있다.
내가 편의점에 가는 이유는 그곳에서만 판매하는 먹거리 때문이다. 커피와 곁들이기 좋은 디저트가 있다. 그리고 온갖 종류의 라면과 삼각 김밥, 도시락도 있다. 바쁜 일과 중에 편의점 한 켠에 마련된 테이블에서 먹는 라면과 삼각 김밥은 여느 진수성찬 못지않게 맛있다.
