Last summer, my husband went on paternity leave, and our family set out to live in Jeju for a year.
My husband and I tend to act impulsively. We sent a year's worth of our things by consignment. we hopped a flight to Jeju and arrived at our lodgings in Jeju. Only after arriving on site did we finally sign a lease for a house.
Every day while our older daughter was off at kindergarten, we took out 18-month-old son and wend on picnics to the mountains and beaches. When our daughter arrived home, we went for walks on the beach and caught bugs in the garden.
I especially have fond memories of going scuba diving with our neighnors, catching conchs in the sea, and digging for clams in the wetlands. I really miss the beautiful natural environment of Jeju, which is always changing with the seasons.
작년 여름, 남편이 육아 휴직을 내고 우리 가족은 제주에서 1년 살이를 시작했다.
남편과 나는 다소 충동적으로 행동하는 편이다. 우리는 1년치 짐을 탁송으로 보낸 후에, 비행기를 타고 제주에 있는 숙소에 도착했다. 현지에 도착하고 나서야 가까스로 집을 계약할 수 있었다.
첫째 달이 유치원에 가 있는 동안, 우리는 18개월인 아들을 데리고 매일 산과 바다로 놀러 나갔다. 딸이 집에 오면, 함께 바닷가를 산책하고 정원에서 벌레를 잡으며 놀았다.
특히 나는 동네 이웃들과 스쿠버 다이빙을 하러 간 경험, 바다에서 뿔소라를 잡은 경험, 갯벌에서 조개를 캤던 경험이 좋은 추억으로 남아 있다. 계절에 따라 늘 바뀌는 제주의 아름다운 자연 환경들이 정말 그립다.
