Talk about vision correction surgery.
I have had poor vision and had to wear glasses ever since I was a kid. As anyone who wears glasses will know, I need to grope around for my glasses as soon as I wake up in the morning. It really gets in the way including when I exercise or go to the sauna.
So, I consulted with an eye doctor about getting vision corrction surgery. LASIK and LASEK surgeries use lasers to reshape the corneas, my corneas were out of the question for me. As an alternative, I was told I could receive intraocular lens implnats, which is a procedure where lenses are inserted into the eyes.
I was a little scared and hesitant at first, but in the end, I underwent the procedure. As a result, I was able to cast off the glasses I'd worn for 25 yesrs. It's been 6 years now since the surgery. Thankfully, I have maintained my keen eyesight, withou any side effects.
나는 어릴 때 부터 시력이 좋지 않아 안경을 써야 했다. 안경을 쓰는 사람이라면 누구나 알겠지만, 아침에 일어나자마자 더듬거리며 안경부터 찾아야 한다. 운동을 하거나 사우나를 갈 때 등 불편한 점이 꽤 많다.
그래서 시력 교정술을 받는 것에 대해 안과에서 상담을 받았다. 라식이나 라섹 수술은 레이저로 각막을 깎아 내는데, 나는 각막 두께가 얇아서 이러한 수술은 할 수가 없었다. 대신 렌즈를 눈 안에 삽입하는 방식인 안내 렌즈 삽입술은 받을 수 있다는 말을 들었다.
처음에는 조금 무서워서 망설였지만, 결국 그 수술을 받았다. 그 결과 지난 25년간 착용해 온 안경을 벗어 버릴 수 있었다. 지금은 수술을 받은 지 6년이 지났다. 다행히 아무 부작용 없이 시력이 잘 유지되고 있다.

Kids have keen eyesight compared to adults. 아이들은 어른에 비해 시력이 좋다.
Even with keen eyesight, no one could see anything when it's so dark. 아무리 좋은 시력을 가진 사람이라도 이렇게 어두우면 아무것도 보지 못할 것이다.
