Because of the coronavirus outbreak, social distancing has been actively observed all over the world. Many companies had their employees work from home on a rotating basis. The benefit of working from home is that it reduces contact between people. This enables people to work safely. However, its major drawback is the difficulty in quick communication. This can slow the pace of work.
Many companies had to implement work-from-home policies in a rush. With no infrastructure in place, there was some confusion at first. Online videoconferencing was used for business meetings. Messaging apps were also used. The widespread adoption of working from home will leave its mark on flexible work hours.

코로나바이러스 발병으로 인해서 사회적 거리 두기가 전 세계적으로 적극 시행되었다. 많은 기업들은 직원들이 돌아가며 재택근무를 하게 했다. 재택근무의 장점은 사람 간 접촉을 줄여서 안전하게 업무를 할 수 있다는 점이다. 반면, 주된 단점은 즉각적인 의사소통이 어려워서 업무 속도가 더딜 수 있다는 점이다.
여러 기업들이 갑작스럽게 재택근무를 시행해야 했는데, 인프라가 갖춰지지 않아 처음에는 혼란이 있기도 했다. 업무 회의는 온라인 화상 회의로 진행하거나, 채팅앱 등을 이용하기도 했다. 이번 재택근무의 광범위한 적용은 유연 근무제 정착에도 영향을 줄 것이다.
