The global economy was hit hard by the coronavirus. As the global economy came to a standstill, consumption dropped drastically, and corporate activity slowed down. Overseas travel decreased sharply, and the travel and airline industries took a huge hit. The situation went from bad to worse due to the oil shock.
The global stock market fell into a panic because of all this. As uncertainty grew, market crashes continued day after day. The drop was so persistent that there was no end in sight. In just a matter of weeks, stock markets in the U.S., Europe, and Asia fell by more than 30%. On one day, the U.S stock market suffered the biggest drop in history. Because of the stock market's steep decline, trillions of dollars went up in smoke.
