B: 그래서 그렇지! 울은 뜨거운 물에 담그거나 건조기에 넣으면 줄어들거든.

My Husband's Favorite Gimbap.
남편의 소울푸드: 김밥.

<말하기 연습>
On weekends, when my husband doesn't have anything going on, he often suggests we make gimbap at home. He's the one who goes to the store to buy all the ingredients. We usually keep it mostly vegetable-based. The gimbap ends up with a different name depending on which ingredient we use the most.
남편은 주말이면 별일 없이 집에 있을 때 종종 김밥을 써사서 먹자고 한다. 마트에 가서 모든 김밥 재료를 사다 주는 건 남편 몫이다. 재료는 보통 야채 위주이다. 어떤 야채를 많이 넣는냐에 따라 김밥의 이름이 달라진다.

If carrots are the main ingredient, we call it carrot flower gimbap. If we use a lot of cucumber, it becomes a light and refreshing cucumber gimbap. Sometimes I make a thin egg sheet, lay it over the rice, and roll everything up. Then it becomes egg gimbap, with the egg neatly wrapping around the other ingredients. The look and taste both change depending on what goes in.
당근을 주재료로 하면 당근 꽃김밥이 된다. 오이를 많이 넣으면 상큼한 오이김밥이 된다. 또 계란을 납작하게 부쳐서 밥 위에 깔아서 말면, 계란이 다른 재료를 품은 듯 모양이 이쁜 계란김밥이 된다. 이처럼 들어가는 재료에 따라 모양과 맛이 다양해진다.

I usually make about ten rolls, but my husband can easily eat seven in one sitting. And every time, he says my gimbap is the best in the world.
보통 열 줄을 기본으로 말지만, 남편은 앉은 자리에서 일곱 줄은 너끈하게 먹어 치운다. 그러면서 내가 만든 김밥이 세상에서 가장 맛있다고 말해 준다.
