Why I Prepare Breakfast.
내가 아침 식사를 준비하는 이유.

<말하기 연습>
I am in my late 60s, and I've been married for 40 years. I am now living the second chapter of my life after retirement. My wife and I both worked, and she was always busy starting early in the morning. Suipporting her husband, working as a middle and high school teacher, and raising our three daughters, she carried a heavy load every day.
저는 결혼 40년 차, 60대 후반으로 퇴직 후 인생 2막을 보내고 있습니다. 저와 아내는 맞벌이 부부였는데 아내는 늘 아침 일찍부터 분주했지요. 남편의 뒷바라지, 중고등학교 교사로서의 직장인, 세 딸의 양육 등 많은 책임을 젊어진 채 매일을 보냈어요.

About ten years ago, I started to feel that I owed her a lot. She had endured and sacrificed so much because of me when we were young. So, I decided that I would take charge of preparing our breakfast, and I've been doing that ever since. I keep it simple with steamed sweet potatoes, boiled eggs, nuts, and fruit.
10년 전쯤, 저는 젊은 시절 저로 인해 너무 많이 고생하고 회생한 아내에게 큰 빚을 졌다는 생각이 들었어요. 그래서 우리 집의 아침 식사를 제가 준비하기로 마음먹고 그 이후로 계속 실천하고 있어요. 찐 고구마, 삶은 달걀, 견과류, 과일류 등 간편식으로 준비합니다.

My routine is to wake up at 6 a.m., prepare breakfast, and tune in to EBS "입트영" at 6:40. After the program ends, we start the day with breakfast. I plan to keep this up for as long as my health allows.
저의 루틴은 오전 6시 기상하여 식사를 준비하고 6시 40분에 EBS <입이 트이는 영어 >를 듣습니다. 방송이 끝나면 우린 아침 식사를 하며 하루를 시작합니다. 저는 제 건강이 허락하는 날까지 이 일을 계속하려고 합니다.
