A Late Night Chase
한밤의 추격전

<말하기 연습>
Not long ago, we were on our way home after eating out as a family. Up ahead, there was a car swerving back and forth, unable to stay in its lane. We all thought the same thing. "That has to be a drunk driver!"
얼마 전 가족들과 외식을 하고 돌아오는 길이었습니다. 전방에 있는 차가 똑바로 가지 못하고 비틀거리며 차선을 넘나드는 모습을 보았습니다. 우리 모두 확신했지요. "음주 운전이다!"

My son was at the wheel, and he immediately called 112. He gave them the car's location and license plate number. We stayed behind the car so it wouldn't get away while we waited for the police to arrive. The driver in front sped up even more and drove recklessly. We were getting farther and farther away from home as we drove in the opposite direction.
운전대를 잡고 있던 아들은 즉시 112에 신고했습니다. 아들은 차량의 위치와 차 넘버를 알려주었고, 경찰의 출동을 기다리는 동안 그 차량을 놓칠까 봐 우리는 그 뒤를 따라갔습니다. 앞선 차는 속도를 더 높여 쌩쌩 곡예 운전을 하고 있었습니다. 차를 뒤쫓느라 우리는 집에서 반대 방향으로 점점 멀어져 갔고요.

Finally, flashing lights appeared with sirens blaring. The police car cut in front of the suspect's car and blocked it. When the driver stepped out, it was obvious he was completely drunk. We all felt proud that we had helped.
드디어 경광등을 켠 경찰차가 사이렌을 울리며 나타나 의심 차량 앞을 막아섰습니다. 차에서 내린 운전자는 만취 상태인 것이 눈으로도 확인될 정도였습니다. 우리는 뭔가 도움이 된 것 같아 뿌듯했습니다.
