Scenes at a Carwash. 손 세차장 풍경.

<말하기 연습>
One day, I was riding shotgun in my friend's car when we passed by a dump truck and it splashed mud onto the car. We had just eaten lunch, so we decided to go to a self-service carwash to clean the car and digest our meal.
하루는 친구 차의 조수석에 타고 가는데, 덤프트럭과 엇갈리며 내 친구의 차에 진흙탕이 튀었다. 우리는 점심을 막 먹었던 터라 소화도 시킬 겸 셀프 손 세차장에 가서 세차를 하기로 했다.

We used elbow grease to enthusiastically wash the car, which hadn't been properly cleaned for a long time. Then, as we looked around, we noticed that everyone else there was a man. Their cars varied, but the expressions on their faces all looked similar. They rolled up their sleeves, some were chewing gum, and they were humming along to music. All in all, they seemed to be having a great time.
간만에 차에 때를 벗긴다며 우리는 아주 열심히 차를 닦았다. 그러다 주의를 둘러보니 우리 외에 모두 남자들뿐이었다. 그들의 차종은 다양했지만, 표정들은 모두 비슷해 보였다. 두 팔을 걷어붙이고, 어떤 분은 껌까지 씹으면서, 노래를 흥얼거리고 있었다. 모두 즐거운 시간을 보내고 있는 것 같았다.

Seeing this, we exchanged a knowing smile. We had a fun conversation in the car on the way back. "They should try being that gung-ho about cleaning the house. I bet their wives would prepare a feast for them."
이 광경을 본 우리는 서로 눈이 마주치자 피식 웃었다. 그리고 돌아노는 차안에서 재미있는 대화를 주고 받았다. "집 안 청소를 저렇게 신나서 해 봐라. 아내들이 아마 진수성찬을 차려 줄 거야."

A: 정말 부지런하시네요.
B: 세차를 직접 안 하세요?
A: 네. 그냥 아파트 단지에 있는 세차 서비스를 이용하고 있어요.
B: 아, 그렇군요. 그것도 편하기는 하죠.
