<말하기 연습>
The sunken area around the mouth that appear when someone smiles are called dimples. An Irish poet once described dimples as a mistake left by angels. He imagined that dimples were created in that spot becuase an angel made a mistake when God was creating humans.
웃을 때 입 주의 부근에 생기는 오목하게 패인 곳을 보조개라고 부릅니다. 아일랜드의 한 시인은 보조개를 "천사의 실수"라고 묘사한 적이 있습니다. 신이 인간을 만들 때 천사가 실수를 하는 바람에 그 자리에 생겨난 것이라고 상상한 것입니다.

In many cases, dimples are seen as one of a person's attractive features. They especially become more noticeable whenever smiles or makes a facial expression.
대부분의 경우 보조개는 그 사람의 매력 포인트 중 하나라고 여겨집니다. 특히 웃거나 표정을 지을 때 두드러지기 때문입니다.

I was born with dimples. Many members of my mother's side of the family also have them, except for my mother. During her prenatal care, my mother wished for her daughter to have dimples. I am grateful to my grandmother for passing on her irresistible charm to me, and to my mother for her prayers which let me inherit my dimples.
저는 보조개를 가지고 태어났습니다. 외가 쪽 가족들 줄에 보조개가 있는 분들이 많은데, 우리 어머니만 없습니다. 어머니는 태교를 하실 때 딸이 태어나면 보조개를 꼭 갖게 해 달라고 바라셨다고 합니다. 저는 치명적인 매력을 유전으로 남겨 주신 외할머니와 기도의 힘으로 보조개를 갖게 해 주신 어머니께 감사한 마음입니다.
