I Am a Tong Leader.
나는 통장입니다.

I am currently doing community service as the leader of my local "tong." I was selected as tong leader after sitting an interview with the local government authorities at the community center. A tong leader receives a letter of appointment from the "gu" district head and serves a two-year term.
저는 현재 살고 있는 지역의 "통장"으로 봉사 활동을 하고 있습니다. 행정 복지 센터의 지역 자치구 담당자들 앞에서 면접을 보고 나서 통장으로 선발되었습니다. 통장은 구청장에게서 위촉장을 받고 2년의 임기 기간을 가집니다.

A tong leader is someone who works as a representative for a tong, the administrative district level below a "dong." It's not a civil service positon, but they allocate work to me in a support capacity, and I receive a small stipend.
통장은 "동"의 하위 행정 구역인 통을 대표하여 일을 맡아 보는 사람입니다. 공무원직은 아니지만, 공무 보조 업무를 위임받아 수행하고 소정의 월급도 받습니다.

My work invloves sending out newsletters with local news, delivering standardized garbage bags to households on basic welfare, and participating in civil defense training. I am learning a lot by serving my community. Being able to contribute to the community gives me a sense of pride.
하는 일은 지역 소식지 배포하기, 기초 수급자 가구에 종량제 봉투 전달하기, 민방위 훈련에 참가하기 등입니다. 저는 공동체를 위해 봉사하면서 많이 배우고 있고, 지역 사회에 보탬이 될 수 있어서 보람을 느낍니다.
