Why I Travel.
내가 여행을 떠나는 이유.
Last July, I went on a trip to Hanoi, Vietnam. One of the most memorable aspects of Hanoi was the way the Vietnamese rode motorcycles like taxis. It was a unique experience to ride a bike through downtown Hanoi. Also, I'll never forget the delicious local delicacies and sweet tropical fruits that I feasted on in Vietnam.
지난 7월, 저는 베트남 하노이로 여행을 다녀왔습니다. 하노이에서 가장 인상 깊었던 것 중 하나는 베트남 사람들이 오토바이를 택시처럼 타는 것이었습니다. 오토바이를 타고 하노이 시내를 달리는 경험은 정말 신선했습니다. 또한 베트남에서 마음껏 먹었던 맛있는 현지 음식과 달콤한 열대 과일도 절대 잊지 못할 것입니다.
What is it that drives us to travel? I travel to experience the unfamiliar. When I arrive at the airport, I love the mystery of the unfamiliar air, local smells and the language I can't understand.
우리가 여행을 가는 이유는 무엇일까요? 저는 낯선 것을 체험하기 위해 여행을 떠납니다. 현지 공항에 막 도착했을 때, 낯선 공기와 현지의 냄새, 그리고 제가 이해할 수 없는 언어의 신비로움이 정말 좋습니다.
When we are in such an unfamiliar city, it ironically brings to mind our ordinary, day-to-day lives. We remember everything we left back home, including our beloved families and daily routines. That's when we come to realize how precious those things really are.
그렇게 낯선 도시 속에서 우리는 역설적이게도 우리의 평범한 일상을 떠올리게 됩니다. 사랑하는 가족들과 일상적인 생활을 비롯해 우리가 놓고 온 모든 것을요. 그 순간 그것들이 얼마나 소중한지 깨닫게 됩니다.
