Visiting an Old Home.
Going back to visit the town I lived in was on my bucket list, but I had to push it back because of the COVID-19 crisis. But recently, I was finally able to pay a visit with my family. Driving to my old hometown, it was as if I had traveled back in time.
We looked around my alma mater, and then found our way to the red brick house we lived in so long ago. Incredibly, it was still there. Our family recalled old memories about the house, and started sharing stories about the good old days.
Now that I am a parent myself, I can relate to why own parents went through the trouble of moving often to raise us better. It really makes me feel grateful.
살던 집에 가보기.
"살던 동네에 다시 가 보는 것"은 나의 버킷 리스트 중 하나였지만, 코로나19 상황으로 무기한 연기해야 했습니다. 그런데 최근에 드디어 가족들과 방문할 수 있었습니다. 차를 타고 옛 동네에 들어서니 마치 타임머신을 타고 과거로 온 것 같았습니다.
어릴 때 다녔던 모교를 구경하고 나서 그 옛날에 살던 빨간 벽돌집을 찾아갔는데, 거짓말처럼 그 자리에 그대로 있었습니다. 우리 가족은 그 집에 대한 추억을 떠올리며 좋았던 옛 시절에 대한 이야기를 나누기 시작했습니다.
이제는 저도 부모가 되어 보니, 부모님이 왜 저희를 더 잘 키우기 위해 힘들게 자주 이사를 다니셨는지 공감이 됩니다. 그래서 정말 감사한 마음이 듭니다.
