Whenever fall arrives and the leaves change color, it brings back a special memory for me. 10 years ago, I stayed for a few months in Toronto, Canada. As luck would have it, the fall foliage season started then. I went on a trip to take in the views at Algonquin Provincial Park, not far from Toronto. I used a package tour offered by a local travel agency.
Korea's fall foliage is also a sight to see, but the autumn leaves in Cannada really fit the expression "the great out doors." The scenery was both beautiful and overwhelming. It was a busy itinery, and I could have been exhausted, but the beautiful scenery wased away the fatigue.
My memories are from a decade ago, so maybe the scenery has changed by now. I would like to visit again with my kids when they get a little bigger and make new memories with them.
나에게는 가을이 되고 단풍이 물들면 항상 떠오르는 특별한 추억이 있다. 10년 전 캐나다 토론토에 몇 달 간 머문 적이 있다. 운 좋게도 캐나다의 단풍 시즌이 그때쯤 시작되었고, 경치를 감상하기 위해 토론토에서 멀지 않은 앨곤퀸 주립 공원으로 여행을 갔다. 나는 현지 여행사의 패키지 여행 상품을 이용했다.
한국의 단풍도 매우 절경이지만, 캐나다의 단풍은 "위대한 대자연"이라는 표현이 정말 어울릴 정도였다. 경치가 아름다우면서도 압도되는 느낌이었다. 일정이 빠듯해서 피곤할 법도 했지만, 아름다운 경치가 피로를 잊게 해 주었다.
10년 전의 추억이라서 지금은 그 경치가 또 다른 모습으로 변해 있을지도 모르겠다. 아이들이 조금 더 크면 함께 가서 새로운 추억을 쌓고 싶다.
