Around this time last year, I was very tired because I was swaped with work. One day, when I got home a little early, my daughter suggested visiting Jeju Island. So, we booked plane tickets and got on the last flight that very day.
As soon as I woke up the next morning, I walked along the Jeju Olle Trail. I took in the blue sky and ocean. I walked alone in lovely forest. I got lost in thought, and sometimes burst into tears. It made me feel at peace. The various plants and green leaves I encountered along the way all seemed to console me.
Ever since then, my husband and I have fisited Jeju every chance we got to walk the Olle Trail. I thought I had seen everything there was to see in Jeju, but I had barely scratched the surface. This year, I started sponsoring the trail, out of gratitude to the people who created it.
작년 이맘때 나는 업무량이 많아서 무척 힘들었다. 조금 일찍 퇴근한 어느 날, 딸이 제주도에 가자고 했다. 그래서 항공권을 예매하고, 바로 그날 마지막 비행기를 타게 되었다.
다음 날 아침에 일어나자마자, 제주 올레길을 따라 걸었다. 파란 하늘과 바다를 감상하며, 예쁜 숲길을 혼자서 거닐었다. 나는 사색에 잠겼고 가끔 울기도 했다. 그러면서 마음이 많이 편안해졌다. 길을 걷다 만난 다양한 식물들과 초록색 잎들이 나를 위로해 주는 것 같았다.
그 이후로 틈만 나면 남편과 나는 제주도에 가서 올레길을 걸었다. 제주도에 볼만한 것은 다 봤다고 생각했는데, 그 동안 수박 겉 핥기만 했던 것이었다. 올해부터는 올레길을 만들어 주신 분들에 대한 감사의 표시로 후원도 시작했다.
