Talk about bats.
Ever since 2020, I have gone searching for bats using a sonar detector. Whenever I travel to rural areas, I set out in search of bats at night.
Bats are unique among mammals in that they are capable of flight. They mostly feed on fruits, flowers, insects, and fish. They live in groups and go into hibernation in the winter. They hibernate for 4 months out of the year, so searching for them in the winter is out of the question.
Bats use sonar to hunt and to avoid obstacles. The untrasonic waves are very high-pitched, so they are undetectable to humans. Bats emit ultrasonic waves and detect the sounds that bounce back. That's why you can bats using sonar detectors.
저는 2020년부터 초음파 탐지기를 이용해서 박쥐 탐사를 하고 있습니다. 지방으로 여행을 갈 때는 밤에 꼭 박쥐를 찾으러 나섭니다.
박쥐는 포유류 중에서 유일하게 날 수 있습니다. 주로 과일, 꽃, 곤충, 물고기 등을 먹이로 삼습니다. 박쥐는 무리 지어 서식하고 겨울에는 동면에 들어갑니다. 일 년 중 4개월 간 동면을 하기 때문에 겨울에는 박쥐 탐사가 불가능합니다.
박쥐는 초음파를 이용하여 사냥을 하고 장애물을 피해 갑니다. 초음파는 아주 높은 소리여서 사람의 귀에는 들리지 않습니다. 박쥐는 초음파를 내보내고, 튕겨져 나오는 소리를 인식한다고 합니다. 그래서 초음파 탐지기를 이용하면 박쥐를 찾을 수 있습니다.
