Talk about traveling through Europe.
In summer of 2019, I went on a package tour of Europe with my mom and 8-year-old son. During the 10-day itinerary, we visited cities in Italy with storied histories, like Rome.
We passed by the Jungfrau in Switzerland, and toured through Paris. Ever since college, it had been a deeply held dream of mine to travel through Europe with my mom.
But I couldn't find anyone to look after my 8-year-old son, so it became a three-generation tirp. Going sightseeing at the famous attractions in foreign countires with my mom and son was a special, meaningful experience. Seeing my mon as happy as a schoolgirl really felt rewarding. My sole regret is that I couldn't have many heart-to-heart talks with my mom, because my son kept complaining about the long trip.
2019년 여름, 나는 엄마와 8살 난 아들과 함께 유럽 패키지 여행을 다녀왔다. 열흘간의 여정 동안, 우리는 로마를 비롯한 이탈리아의 유서 깊은 도시들을 방문했다. 그리고 스위스의 융프라우를 거쳐 파리까지 돌아보았다.
대학 시절부터 나는 엄마와 단 둘이서 유럽 여행을 다녀오고 싶은 로망이 있었다. 하지만 8살 난 아들을 돌봐 줄 사람을 찾기가 여의치 않아서, 결국 3대가 함께 여행을 떠나게 되었다.
엄마랑 아들과 함께 타국의 명소를 관광하는 것은 정말 특별하고도 뜻깊은 경험이었다. 아이처럼 좋아하시는 엄마를 보며 무척이나 뿌듯했다. 다만 긴 여행이 힘들다고 계속 투덜대는 아들 때문에, 엄마와 허심탄회한 대화를 많이 하지 못한 것이 유일한 아쉬움으로 남아 있다.
