Talk about domestic arguments.
It has been 30 years since my husband and I tied the knot, but we have not had a single domestic spat. No long after our wedding, I listed all my grievances to my husband. He listened quietly until I had had my say.
He went over each thing, promising to change what he could and patiently explaining why some things couldn't be fixed. They were such convincing esplanations that I lost the will to fight and it resolved my complaints.
Recently, I complained " I always do all the talking. You should say something fun, too." He answered, " I have no excuse for that. I just don't know what to say. I am sincerely sorry. Please forgive me." How can I pick a fight with a husband like that?
남편과 나는 결혼한 지 30년이 되었지만 한 번도 부부 싸움을 한 적이 없다. 결혼한 지 얼마 안되었을 때 나는 남편에게 불만을 전부 털어놓은 적이 있다. 남편은 내가 하고 싶은 말을 다 할때까지 가만히 들어 주었다.
남편은 하나하나 짚어 가면서 고칠 수 있는 점은 고치겠다고 약속하고, 고칠 수 없는 점은 그 이유를 차근차근 설명해 주었다. 너무 납득이 가는 설명이어서 나는 싸울 의욕을 잃었고 불만도 다 해결되었다.
최근에는 내가 "항상 나 혼자만 말을 하잖아. 당신도 뭔가 재미있는 이야기 좀 해 봐."라고 불만을 토로했다. 남편은 "그 점에 대해서는 입이 열개라도 할 말이 없네. 무슨 말을 하면 좋을지 정말 모르겠어. 진심으로 미안해, 용서해 줘."라고 했다. 이런 남편을 상대로 어떻게 싸움을 할 수 있단 말인가?

I lost the will to study after I failed the test. 시험에 낙제한 이후 나는 공부하려는 의지를 잃었다.
You shouldn't lose the will to continue because of that mistake. 그 실수 때문에 계속하려는 의지를 잃어서는 안 된다.
3. pick a fight 싸움을 걸다.
An older kid tried to pick a fight with my daughter. 나이가 더 많은 아이가 우리 딸에게 싸움을 걸려고 했다.
He always talks like he's trying to pick a fight. 그는 항상 시비조로 말을 한다.

A: Do you argue with your wife often?
B: Very often. We lock horns all the time. How about you?
A: We haven't really butted heads in years.
B: Really?
A: Yes. My husband usually backs down and lets me have my way.
B: Wow! That's really big-hearted of him.
A: 아내와 자주 싸우세요?
B: 엄청 자주 싸우죠. 수시로 싸워요. 어떠세요?
A: 저희는 몇 년 동안 거의 안 싸웠어요.
B: 정말요?
A: 네. 남편이 주로 양보하고 제 뜻대로 하게 해 주네요.
B: 와! 남편이 정말 관대하시네요.
