60th birthdays and old age.
My mother has reached 60 years old. Everyone has mixed feelings when they enter a new decade, but turning 60 in particular feels more significant.
When people talked about turning 60 in the past, it conjured up images of elderly grandparents wearing traditional clothing at large gatherings. But times have changed, and that kind of old image is a thing of the past.
There is saying that "life begins at 60." I never really identified with that sentence before, but it hits home now that my parents are that age. They can't stop their appearance from changing as they get on in years. But I hope that take it in stride and reamin strong and healthy as they enjoy their old age.
환갑과 노년.
저희 어머니가 환갑을 맞이하셨습니다. 누구든지 나이의 앞자리가 바뀔 때마다, 만감이 교차하지만, 특히 환갑이 되는 것은 더 특별하게 여겨집니다.
예전에는 사람들이 환갑에 대해 얘기하면서 할아버지, 할머니께서 한복을 입고 큰 잔치를 하는 것이 떠올려집니다. 그러나 시대가 많이 변해서 그런 예전의 이미지는 사라졌습니다.
"인생은 60부터 시작이다."라는 말이 있습니다. 전에는 그 문장이 전혀 공감이 되지 않았지만, 저희 부모님 연세가 그렇게 되시니 이제는 가깝게 와닿습니다. 나이가 들면서 생기는 외모의 변화는 막을 수 없습니다. 하지만 부모님께서 담담하게 받아들이며 힘차고 건강하게 노년 생활을 즐기셨으면 좋겠습니다.
