Getbol, Korea's tidal flats.
In the past, people thought that Korea's tidal flats were of no use. But the tidal flats play a huge role in our lives, in the health of the earth, and in the lives of various organisms.
We gain various types of seafood from the tidal flats, like octopus, crab, and shellfish. The tidal flats are also home to many endangered species of birds, like storks. They also provide a habitat for many rare species. What's more, the tidal are said to filter out pollutants.
Korea's tidal flats have been recognized for their importance in preserving biodiversity on earth. For this, they have been inscribed as a world natural heritage site by UNESCO. It is up to us to preserve tidal flats as best we can in the future.
한국의 갯벌.
과거에 사람들은 한국의 갯벌을 쓸모없는 곳으로 여겼다. 하지만 갯벌은 우리의 삶에도, 지구의 건강에도, 다양한 생물들의 삶에도 아주 지대한 영향을 끼친다.
우리는 갯벌에서 낙지, 게, 조개와 같은 다양한 종류의 해산물을 얻는다. 갯벌은 황새 같은 여러 멸종 위기 조류의 서식지이기도 하다. 또한 수 많은 희귀종 생물들의 서식지이다. 게다가 갯벌은 오염 물질을 정화해 준다고 한다.
한국의 갯벌은 지구의 생물 다양성 보존을 위해 그 중요성을 인정받았다. 이로 인해 유네스코 세계 자연 유산에 등재되기도 했다. 앞으로 이러한 갯벌을 최선을 다해 보존하는 것은 우리의 책임이다.
