Reading English storybooks to children.
If I had to choose my happiest memory with my child, it would be visiting a bookstore to pick out a book and reading it together. I fondly remember reading English storybooks with my daughter. We had conversations about the characters, and acted out the stories as plays.
My kids crack up over parts of the stories I never expected. And if I purposely make a mistake in parts that describe the pictures, they notice right away and react.
Storybooks come in all shapes and sizes. Their fonts are all different, and each book is composed differently. This makes them an enticing playgthing for kids. Maybe how well I read the book is beside the point. What's important is to read in mom's voice, make eye contact with the kids, and let my daughter recall those happy times.
아이에게 영어 그림책 읽어주기.
아이와의 가장 행복한 기억을 고르라면, 서점에 가서 책을 고르고 그 책을 함께 읽은 시간들이다. 특히 딸과 영어 그림책을 읽은 것이 기억에 남는다. 우리는 등장인물에 대해 이야기를 나눴고 연극을 하는 것처럼 이야기를 연기했다.
아이들은 내가 생각치도 못한 부분에서 크게 웃음보가 터지곤 한다. 그리고 그림을 묘사하는 부분에서 내가 일부러 틀리게 말하면, 아이는 금방 알아차리고 반응을 보인다.
그림책은 각각 크기나 모양새가 다르다. 서체도 모두 다르고 책마다 구성도 다르다. 이런 점 때문에 아이들에게 매력적인 놀잇감이 된다. 어쩌면 그림책을 얼마나 잘 읽어 주는 지는 그리 중요하지 않을 지도 모른다. 중요한 것은 바로 엄마의 목소리로 읽어주고, 아이들과 눈을 마주치고 내 딸이 그 행복한 시간을 기억하도록 해 주는 것이다.
