Christmas is designated as a national holiday in Korea. On Christmas Eve, people go out in droves to have a good time. Stores and restaurants enjoy increased demand on Christmas. It's because everyone eats out and goes shopping. Some restaurants have only pre-fixed menus around Christmastime. Oftentimes, it's hard to score a table unless you reserve in advance. On the streets, you can see couples going on dates.

한국에서 크리스마스 당일은 공휴일로 지정되어 있다. 크리스마스 전날에는 많은 인파가 밖에 나가서 즐거운 시간을 보낸다. 상점들이나 음식점들은 크리스마스 특수를 누린다. 누구나 나와서 외식하고 쇼핑을 하기 때문이다. 일부 음식점들은 크리스마스 시기에 정해진 메뉴만 제공하기도 한다. 사전에 예약을 하지 않으면 테이블을 잡기 어려운 경우도 많다. 거리마다 연인들이 데이트를 하는 모습들을 볼 수 있다.

My son is five years old, and he is a big fan of Christmas. We always laugh it up, decorating a Christmas tree together. He's still young, so he believes in Santa Claus. When I ask him what he wants for Christmas, he says Saint Nick will get it for him. My husband and I get his gift in advance, and put it next to his bed when he's fast asleep. He gets all worked up when he discovers it in the morning. It's really cute. Someday, it will dawn on him that mom and dad were Santa. But until then, we'll keep it a secret. On Christmas, we turn on cheerful carols and spend time as a family.

아들이 5살인데, 크리스마스를 매우 좋아한다. 아이와 함께 크리스마스트리를 장식하며 늘 즐거운 시간을 보낸다. 아들은 아직 어려서, 산타클로스가 있다고 믿는다. 크리스마스 때 받고 싶은 선물을 물어보면, 산타클로스가 줄 거라고 말한다. 남편과 나는 아이의 선물을 미리 사서, 아이가 자면 침대 옆에 선물을 놓는다. 아이는 아침에 선물을 발견하고 매우 신이 난다. 그런 모습이 너무 귀엽다. 언젠가는 산타클로스가 엄마와 아빠라는 것을 알게 되겠지만, 그때까지는 비밀로 할 것이다. 크리스마스 당일에는 집에 흥겨운 캐럴을 틀어 놓고, 오붓하게 가족들과 시간을 보낸다.
