Raising a Daughter. 딸을 키운다는 것.

My daughter used to smile a lot and had a sunny disposition. But recently, she has become quiter and spends a lot of time alone in her room, drawing and writing novels. As a mother, seeing her like this causes me concern and I feel frustrated.
우리 딸은 잘 웃고 성격도 밝았다. 그런데 최근에 말수가 줄고 방에서 그림을 그리거나 소설을 쓰면서 혼자 보내는 시간이 많아졌다. 엄마로서 그 모습을 보니 걱정이 되면서도 답답하다.

So, I decided to find a common interest between us. I thought it would do some good to talk about our favorite music and books. We listened to each other's favorite songs in the car, which helped us connect.
그래서 우리 둘 사이에 공통된 관심사를 찾아보기로 했다. 아이와 좋아하는 음악과 책에 대해 이야기하면 좋을 것 같았다. 우리는 차 안에서 서로가 좋아하는 노래를 함께 들으며 공감대가 생겼다.

One day, I read the novel my daughter was uploading in installments on her blog. I found it hard to understand at first, but as I kept reading, I became engrossed in the story. Now, I cheer her on as her biggest fan as I imagine her growing up to become a novelist.
그러던 어느 날 아이가 블로그에 연재하고 있는 소설을 읽게 되었다. 처음에는 이해하기 힘들었는데 계속 읽다 보니 나도 모르게 이야기에 점점 빠져들었다. 지금은 아이가 커서 작가가되는 날을 상상하며 열혈 팬으로서 응원을 하고 있다.

Moving forward, I hope to keep sharing our interests and to live a wise and fulfulling life together as mother and daughter.
앞으로도 서로의 관심사를 계속 공유하며 슬기롭고 충만한 모녀 생활을 함께하고 싶다.
