How Learning Korean History Changed My Attitude.
한국사를 공부한 후 달라진 삶의 자세.

While I was on childcare leave, I felt like I was stuck in a rut. Then one day, I started to study Korean history, a subject that I had always wanted to get into.
나는 육아 휴직을 하는 동안 삶이 무료하게 느껴졌다. 그러던 어느 날 전부터 늘 공부해 보고 싶었던 한국사 공부를 시작하게 되었다.

At first, I only hit the books to get certified. But as I learned about our history, I started to feel like I was gaining a new perstpective on life. Meeting various people throughtout thousands of years of history taught me how to live a worthwhile life. An educator once said that history is like a guidebook for life.
처음에는 그저 자격증을 취득하기 위해 책을 펼쳤다. 그러나 역사를 배우면서 삶에 대한 자세가 달라지는 것을 느끼기 시작했다. 수천 년 역사 속의 다양한 인물들을 만나면서 어떻게 살아야 가치 있게 사는 것인지를 배울 수 있었다. 어느 교육자는 역사란 삶의 해설서와 같다고 말했다.

Looking back on the concerns, decisions, and actions of our historical ancestors gives us some pointers on how to live our own lives. I can definitely relate to that sentiment.
역사 속 선조들의 고민과 결정, 행동을 되돌아보면 자신의 삶을 살아가는 법에 대해 조언을 얻을 수 있다고 말이다. 나는 그 견해에 충분히 공감할 수 있다.
