Putting a Baby to Sleep.
아기 재우기.
I am currently bringing up a 2-month-old baby. It was rough going until just a few days ago, because the baby always got cranky at bedtime. I cuddled her close, gave her a pacifier, and sang her lullabies, but it didn't do any good. It took two hours to put her down. It was exhausting, both physically and mentally. So, I studied how to effectively put a baby to bed to change things up.
나는 지금 2개월 된 아기를 키우고 있다. 불과 며칠 전까지만 해도 아기가 매번 잠투정을 심하게 부려서 힘든 시간을 보냈다. 안아서 달래고, 쪽쪽이를 물리고, 자장가를 불러 줘도 아무 소용이 없었다. 재우는 데 두 시간은 걸렸다. 체력적으로나 정신적으로 너무 힘들었다. 그래서 아기를 잘 재우는 법을 공부하며 변화를 주었다.
First, I created a comfy environment for sleep. I set the thermostat at a comfortable level, and switched from fluorescent bulbs to indirect lighting. I also bathed the baby in warm water before bed, and nursed her until she was full.
먼저 쾌적한 수면 환경을 만들어 주었다. 실내 온도를 적정 수준으로 맞추고, 형광등 대신 간접 조명으로 바꿨다. 그리고 자기 전에 따뜻한 물로 목욕을 시키고, 양껏 수용하여 포만감을 느끼게 해 주었다.
This has become a bedtime routine. The baby's eyelids get droopy now just from taking a bath. I am very happy, since effectively putting down the baby means I can get a good night's sleep, too.
이것이 하나의 수면 의식이 된 모양이다. 아기는 이제 목욕만 하면 눈이 감겨 있다. 아기를 잘 재우면 나 또한 숙면을 취할 수 있게 되니 매우 만족스럽다.
