My husband's Retirement.
I've heard that when a man retires from his job, it's common for his wife to fall into a depression. So, before my husband retired last spring, I told him we should draw up a strategy.
First, we agreed that I would be in charge of cooking meals and doing the dishes. My husband would pick up around the house and do the laundry. I told him it was hard to come up with a meal plan every day. He suggested drafting a 2-week plan and repeating it. Since we both spend a lot of time in the living room, we agreed to use earphones whenever listened to anything.
It's now been almost a year since my husband left his job. Finally being freed from cleaning up, my least favorite chore, is like a slice of heaven. And we've mostly gotten used to our new living situation.
남편의 정년퇴직.
남편이 정년퇴직을 하면 아내가 우울증에 걸리는 경우가 흔히 있다고 들었다. 그래서 남편이 작년 봄에 퇴직을 하기 전에 나는 대책을 세워야 한다고 말했다.
우선, 식사 준비와 설거지는 내가 맡고, 집 안 청소와 빨래는 남편이 하기로 했다. 매일 식단을 짜는 것이 힘들다고 말했더니, 남편이 2주일치 식단을 짜 놓고 그것을 반복하면 된다고 했다. 그리고 우리 둘 다 거실에 있는 시간이 많아서 뭔가를 들을 때는 꼭 이어폰을 사용하기로 했다.
이제 남편이 퇴직을 한 지 거의 일 년이 다 되어 간다. 내가 가장 싫어하는 집안일인 청소로부터 해방되어서 천국이 따로 없다. 그리고 우리 부부는 새로운 생활 환경에 대체로 적응을 한 것 같다.
