Animal Cafes.
When I was young, I visited cafes from time to time where visitor can pet or feed animals. I went for the sole reason that I love our futty friends.
But I no longer go to such places, now that I've become aware of the issue of animal welfare. I've learned that most animals that live outside their natural habitat are actually unhappy.
I saw in the news that zoo-related laws received an overhaul last year, and nimal cafes will soon be phased out. According to these new laws, small indoor zoos like animal and pet cafes will be prohibited. Many hands-on activities like petting or feeding animals will also be limited to reduce the risk of zoonotic diseases.
However, I do worry that animals might be left without a home or have their lives threatened when various facilities are shut down because of the new laws. It's essential to come up with solutions to these problems.
동물 체험 카페.
나는 어릴 때 동물들을 만지거나 먹이를 줄 수 있는 체험 카페를 가끔 방문했었다. 그저 동물을 좋아하다는 이유로 그곳에 갔던 것이다.
하지만 동물 복지 문제에 대해 알게 된 지금은 더 이상 그런 곳에 가지 않는다. 서식지와 다른 환경에서 살고 있는 동물들을 대부분 불행하다는 것을 알게 되었기 때문이다.
작년에 동물원 관련 법이 개정되면서 조만간 동물 카페가 사라진다는 뉴스를 보았다. 새로 생긴 이 법에 따르면, 동물 체험 카페와 같은 작은 실내 동물원은 금지된다고 한다. 그리고 인수 공통 감염병의 위험을 줄이기 위해 동물 만지기와 먹이 주기 같은 체험 활동들도 많이 제한될 것이다.
하지만 새로운 법 때문에 여러 시설들이 폐쇄되면 동물들이 지낼 곳이 없어지거나 생명의 위협을 받을까 봐 걱정이 된다. 이런 문제를 해결하기 위한 방안을 반드시 강구해야 한다.
