Generation Gaps Among Couples.
I have been in a relationship with my boyfriend for three years. He is 8 years my senior. We share a sense of humor. We also have similar tastes in food and hobbies. Maybe that's why we've hardly ever had a lover's spat.
But sometimes, I do feel a generation gap. For example, when my boyfriend hums along to an oldie that I've never heard before. Plus, I was in grade school during 2002 World Cup, when my boyfriend was drinking and living it up. I feel the generation gap when I heard which graduating class he was in for college. It really hits home when he says he watched presidential speeches on TV that I have only read about in textbooks.
Whenever I am surprised, my boyfriend laughs sheepishly. He looks so cute that it makes me feel happy again.

저는 저보다 8살 많은 남자 친구와 3년째 예쁜 사랑을 하고 있습니다. 저희는 유머 코드가 서로 잘 맞고, 음식과 취미에서도 취향이 비슷합니다. 그래서 그런지 저희는 여태껏 사랑싸움을 해 본 적도 거의 없습니다.
하지만 가끔씩 세대 차이가 느껴지곤 합니다. 예를 들면, 저는 생전 처음 들어 보는 옛날 노래를 남자 친구가 흥얼거릴 때 그렇습니다. 게다가 2002년 월드컵 때 저는 초등학생이었지만, 남자 친구는 술을 마시며 만끽했다고 합니다. 그리고 그의 대학교 학번을 들으면 세대 차이를 느낍니다. 제가 교과서에서만 읽어 봤던 대통령의 연설을 그가 TV에서 실제로 보았다고 할 때도 나이 차이가 새삼 실감이 납니다.
제가 놀랄 때마다 남자 친구는 민망한 듯 웃습니다. 그 모습이 너무 귀여워서 저는 또 행복해집니다.
