I am on ordinary mom with two sons. We are a dual-income family, so I am often not at home. Perhaps that's why I feel a twinge whenever my kids say they want a pet. I also appreciate that they have a good heart, wanting to shower affection on an animal.
To date, we have raised a puppy, rhinoceros beetles, snails, stag beetles, and fish. We currently live with a puppy, two stag beetles, and about 100 guppies.
It's quite a handful to feed the animals and take them on walks all day long. But I still feel blessed to raise these living creatures and have a rapport with them. Plus, it also seems to have a positive effect on the kids.
