Becoming a homeowner.
Talk about becoming a homeowner.
Not owning a home, I opened a housing subscription deposit account and savedf up 100,000 won every month. In October of 2020, I finally became eligible for the top of the waiting list and I submitted an application for the first time. I knew the chances were slim, so I didn't get my hopes up.
On the day housing allotment winners were announced, I stayed up until midnight. Finally, the clock struck 12. And surprise, surprise! My name was on the list of final winners! I cound't believe my eyes, so I shook my husband awake. He held me tight and just wept.
Now, we are 5 months away from moving day. My heart is heavy because we need to make the intermediate payments and take out a loan for the remaining balance. Even so, I feel deeply grateful.
무주택자였던 나는 주택 청약 통장을 만들고 매달 십만 원씩 저축했다. 2020년 10월에 마침내 청약 1순위 조건을 갖추었고 처음으로 청약 신청을 했다. 당첨 확률이 낮다는 사실은 알고 있었기 때문에 별 기대는 하지 않았다.
주택 청약 당첨자를 발표하는 날, 나는 자정까지 잠도 안 자고 기다렸다. 드디어 12시가 되었다. 그런데 이게 웬일인가? 최종 당첨자 명단에 내 이름이 있었던 것이다! 내 눈을 의심하여 자고 있던 남편을 흔들어 깨웠다. 남편은 나를 부둥켜 안고 울기만 했다.
지금은 아파트 입주하는 날을 5개월 정도 앞두고 있다. 중도금을 납부해야 하고 잔금 지불을 위해 대출도 받아야 해서 마음이 무겁다. 그렇기는 하지만 진심으로 감사할 따름이다.
