Voice phishing.
Talk about voice phishing.
Voice phishing crimes are on the rise, and they are becoming more cunning. Damages amount to more than 700 billion won each year. I recently received a long text message saying that I hadn't applied for a stimulus payment. It turned out to be a voice phishing scheme.
Commonly known voice phishing schemes inculde fake offers for loans. They claim to offer low interest rates for loans, or demand payments for immediate loans. Some impersonate public offices, saying "I'm a prosecutor, and you have been implicated in a crime." Still others to be financial institutions. "This is the Financial Supervisory Service, and your money has been used in a money laundering scheme."
We must all be on high alert against such voice phishing messages. I hope that nobody will fall victim to these crimes.
보이스 피싱 범죄가 갈수록 확대되고 지능화되어 가고 있다. 피해 규모가 연간 7,000억원을 넘는다고 한다. 나도 최근에 재난 지원금을 신청하지 않았다는 장문의 문자 메시지를 받았는데, 이 또한 알고보니 보이스 피싱이었다.
많이 알려진 보이스 피싱 사기에는 대출 빙자형이 있다. 대출 이자를 싸게 해 준다거나 대출을 바로 해 줄 수 있다면서 일부 대출금을 건네라고 요구한다. 그리고 "나 검사인데 당신은 범죄에 연루되었다."라고 하며 공공 기관을 사칭하는 경우도 있다. 반면 "여기는 금융감독원이다. 당신의 돈이 자금 세탁에 이용되었다."라는 금융 기관 사칭형도 있다.
우리는 모두 이런 보이스 피싱 문자에 각별히 주의를 해야한다. 나는 이러한 범죄들로 인해 피해를 입는 사람들이 아무도 없기를 바란다.
