Self-test kits.
After the omicron variant of the coronavirus became the dominant strain, there was a spike in the number of confirmed cases in Korea. Self-tests for COVID-19 were frequently called for. These self-test kits, also called rapid antigen tests, are available for purchase at pharmacies.
After the Lunar New Year holiday, I used a self-test kit at home for the first time. I thoroughly washed my hands before the test. Then, I inserted the kit's cotton swab deep into my nostrils and rubbed it. Next, I swirled the cotton swab around in the liquid container, and dropped a few drops of the liquid in the test device.
After waiting 15 minutes, I got my test result. The result came back nagative. It's not quite as accurate as a PCR test, but I was fascinated by how simply and coveniently I could check for COVID by myself.
자가 진단 키트.
코로나바이러스의 오미크론 변이종이 우세종이 된 이후, 우리나라도 확진자 수가 급격히 증가했다. 그래서 코로나19 자가 검진을 해야 할 일이 잦아졌다. 신속 항원 검사라고 부르는 이러한 자가 검진 키트는 약국에서 구입이 가능하다.
나는 설 명절 이후 처음으로 집에서 자가 검진 키트를 사용해 봤다. 검사 전에 손을 꼼꼼히 씻었다. 그리고 나서 키트에 동봉된 면봉을 콧구멍에 깊이 넣은 후 잘 문질러 줬다. 이 면봉을 용액통에 넣어 저어 준 다음, 검사용 디바이스에 용액 몇 방울을 떨어뜨렸다. 15분을 기다린 후, 검사 결과를 알 수 있었다. 결과는 음성으로 나왔다.
물론 PCR검사 만큼 정확도가 높지는 않지만, 쉽고 편리하게 코로나 감염 여부를 직접 확인할 수 있다는 것이 신기하기도 했다.
