[STEP1] 전자 담배에 대해 이야기해 주세요.

최근 몇 년 사이 전자 담배가 상당히 빠른 속도로 보급되었다. 전자 담배는 일반 담배에 비해 취급이 더 쉽고 냄새도 덜 난다. 또한 일반 담배의 수많은 유해 물질을 제거해 준다. 그래서 많은 흡연자들이 전자 담배로 바꾸고 있다. 그러나 전자 담배는 안전성에 대한 우려가 꾸준히 제기되었다. 전자 담배의 배터리가 과열되어 폭발하는 문제들이 보고되었다. 최근에는 전자 담배 자체의 유해상에 대한 문제가 부가되면서, 새로운 법률적인 조치들이 마련되고 있다.

E-cigarettes became widespread quite rapidly in recent years. Compared to ordinary cigarettes, e-cigarettes are easier to handle and smell less. They also get rid of a lot of the harmful substances in ordinary cigarettes. That's why a lot of smokers make the switch. However, there have been concerns over the safety of e-cagarettes. There have been reports of the batteries overheating to the point of exploding. Recently, there are question over the harmful effects of e-cigarettes. New legal measures are being developed.

전자 담배가 널리 보급되면서 여러 가지 문제들이 수면 위로 올라왔다. 우선, 심각한 부작용으로는 청년 흡연율을 증가시키는 것이다. 액상 형태의 전자 담배 연기가 심각한 폐 질환을 유발하는 사례들도 있었다. 급기야 미국의 일부 도시에서는 인공 향료가 첨가된 액상 전자 담배를 금지하는 법안이 통과되기도 했다. 국내에서도 전자 담배를 규제하는 법안들이 강화될 조짐들이 보이고 있다.

Talk about recent actions taken on electronic cigarettes.

As e-cigarettes have come into widespread use, various problems have popped up. First, a serious side effect is that they increase the smoking rate among young people. There have been cases of the smoke from e-cigarettes in liquid form causing serious lung conditions. Some cities in the U.S. have passed laws that prohibit the use of vaping devices that have added artificial flavorings. Signs indicate that laws governing e-cigarettes will be ramped up in Korea, too.
