주차 단속 딱지에 대해 이야기해 주세요.

[Response]

There are lots of parking enforcement cameras in Korea. The system takes pictures of cars that are parked or stopped illegally on major streets. It then imposes a fine. That's why it's important to check whether you are
clear to park in a space before you do so. Last year, I stopped by the road for about 10 minutes to wait for someone. A few weeks later, I got a ticket for illegal parking. I was at the wheel, but they still took a picture. Ever since then, I take a good look around to see if there are cameras.

[해석]

우리나라에는 주차 단속 카메라가 많다. 주요 도로에 불법으로 주차 혹은 정차돼 있는 차들의 사진을 찍어서 과태료를 부과하는 시스템이다. 그래서 주차할 때 주차가 가능한 지역인지 확인하는 것이 중요하다. 나도 작년에 누군가를 기다리며 길가에 차를 10분 정도 정차했었다. 몇 주 뒤에 불법 주차 딱지를 받았다. 운전자인 내가 타고 있었는데도 사진이 찍힌 것이다. 그 이후부터는 카메라가 있는지 잘 살피고 다닌다.

속도 위반 딱지에 대해 이야기해 주세요.

[Response]

Drivers have to pay traffic fines from time to time. Speeding tickets are the most common. Drivers can get tickets for going over the speed limit on the highway. These days, sat-nav apps tell you where the cameras are, which helps. however, drivers still get tickets on city streets. For example, it can happen in school zones, where drivers have to take it slow. Even without flooring it, they get tickets because the speed limit is so low.

[해석]

운전을 하다 보면, 교통 범칙금을 물게 되는 경우가 있다. 가장 흔하게 내는 것이 속도 위반 과태료다. 고속도로에서 규정 속도를 위반해서 범칙금이 부과되는 경우가 있다. 요즘은 내비게이션이 카메라 위치를 알려 줘서 도움이 된다. 그러나 시내 도로에서도 과태료를 물게 된다. 예를 들어 저속 운행을 해야 하는 학교 앞 도로에서 그런 일이 발생할 수 있다. 빠른 속도로 달리지 않았는데도, 규정 속도가 워낙 낮아서 과태료가 부과될 수 있다.
