[Extra Topics for Study Groups]

1. Share some tips for finding places to park.
2. What are the pros and cons of automatic parking functions?
3. Do you often use valet parking services? Why or why not?

STEP 1

Talk about the parking lots at your apartment.

[Response]

There are 10 buildings in our apartment complex. The underground parking lot is connected for all ten buildings. There are two underground levels, and it's always kept neat and tidy. There is a green light above each empty parking space. The light turns red if the spot is taken. There is no lack of space. There is room enough for about 1.5 cars per apartment unit. The spaces closest to the entrance are set aside as designated spaces for women.

STEP 2

Talk about a time when you had problems parking your car.

[Response]

Last year, I scraped the bumper of my car against a wall while I was backing it up to park. I was trying to parallel park on the street, but I couldn't get a read on the distance to the wall. The proximity sensors on the car beeped, but it was too little too late. The bumper had already hit the wall. It didn't get dinged up too badly, but the scratch was visible to the naked eye. Another time, I got a parking ticket a few weeks after I had street parked my car. There was a parking enforcement camera where I had parked.
