My sister is married, and I have a nephew. I can't get enough of him, because I witnessed everything from my sister's pregnancy to her going into labor and the baby's growth. I miss him even if we're apart for just a few days, and my displays of affection are over the top. I might not buy things I need, but I'm more than happy to buy things my nephew wants. My profile photo for my social media account is my nephew's first birthday portrait. I have no plans to get married, so my nephew feels even closer to my heart. Every moment I am with my nephew makes me happy. I am filled with gratitude for the way he makes me laugh. His birth is one of the greatest gifts ever bestowed upon me. I really am a fool for my nephew.

[Speaking Tips]

돌 사진

영어권에서는 우리말의 '돌'처럼 첫 생일을 뜻하는 별도의 단어가 없다. 따라서 단순하게 first birthday라고 말하면 된다. 특별히 구도를 잡고 찍는 아기 사진이나 가족 사진 등의 인물 사진은 portrait라고 하지만, 돌잔치 중에 찍는 그 외의 일반적인 사진들은 first birthday snapshot라고 부른다.

 

예) My son looks just like me in my first birthday portrait. (우리 아들은 내 돌 사진 속의 내 모습과 똑 닮았다.)
Our baby cried while we were taking her first birthday portrait. (아기가 돌 사진을 찍는 동안 울어 버렸다.)
