I really like raw fish, or hoe. There are many Korean people who share my view on raw fish. That's why there's a raw fish restaurant in every neighborhood. There are some ritzy restaurants, but there are also places with reasonable prices. At these restaurants, you first choose the type of fish you want. The price varies wildly depending on what fish you choose. Then, there are a lot of appetizers that come out first. There's a lot of fresh seafood. Sea squirts, sea cucumbers, sea urchins and abalone are very common. My favorite is sea urchin roe. Raw fish restaurants usually serve two varieties of sauce. One is soy sauce, and the other is red pepper paste. To add some bite, you can put a dollop of wasabi in your sauce. After eating the fish, people usually have a spicy stew and rice. Raw fish also goes well with liquor, so people almost always have a light drink with hoe.

나는 회를 무척 좋아한다. 나같이 회를 좋아하는 한국인들은 매우 많다. 그래서 주변에 어디에나 횟집이 있다. 꽤 고급스러운 횟집도 있지만, 가격대가 덜 비싼 곳도 있다. 횟집에 가면, 일단 어종을 골라서 회를 주문하게 된다. 어떤 생선인지에 따라서 가격이 천차만별이다. 그러고 나면, 먼저 식전 요리가 다양하게 많이 나온다. 신선한 해산물이 많이 나온다. 멍게, 해삼, 성게, 전복 등이 자주 등장하는 음식들이다. 나는 성게 알을 가장 좋아한다. 횟집에서는 주로 두 가지 종류의 소스를 준다. 하나는 간장이고, 또 하나는 초고추장이다. 톡 쏘는 맛을 가미하려면 이 소스에 고추냉이 한 덩어리를 섞으면 된다. 회를 먹은 후에, 사람들은 보통 매운탕과 밥을 먹는다. 물론, 회는 술 안주로도 매우 좋아서, 많은 사람들이 회화 함께 거의 항상 술을 가볍게 마시게 되는 경우가 많다.
