Curly Hair.
My husband has curly hair. I didn't give it much thoughts before we go married, but it's really hitting home as our kids get older. They stand in front of the mirror ever morning, wrestling their unruly hair and trying to get it under control.
I heard somewhere that curly hair is benetically dominant over straight hair. For a while, I rooted for my own maternal genes. Now, our two kids go to the hairdresser periodically to get a straight perm. At one point, I was a bit resentful of my husband's curly hair genes.
But my attitude is changing as I look at my husband's hair these days. As he gets older, his curly, wiry hair is turning into a soft wave. It's a good look for a middle-aged man, almost aristocratic.
곱슬머리.
우리 남편은 곱슬머리이다. 결혼하기 전에는 크게 개의치 않았는데, 아이들이 크면서 뼈저리게 느끼고 있다. 아이들은 아침마다 거울 앞에 서서 멋대로 뻗쳐 버린 머리와 씨름을 하며 정돈하느라 애를 쓴다.
곱슬모리가 생머리에 비해서 유전적으로 우성이라는 사실을 어디서 듣고, 한동안은 엄마쪽 유전자를 응원하기도 했다. 이제는 두 아이가 정기적으로 스트레이트 파마를 하기위해 미용실에 다닌다. 그래서 한때는 남편의 곱슬머리 유전자가 살짝 원망스럽기도 했다.
그런데 요즘에 우리 남편의 머리카락을 보면서 생각이 조금씩 달라지고 있다. 나이가 들면서 남편의 힘있고 빳빳했던 곱슬머리가 점차 부드러운 웨이브 머리로 자리 잡고 있다. 약간 귀족적이기도 하면서 중년 남성에게 잘 어울리는 헤어스타일이다.
